My friend Mic (who you’ve met in previous posts) goes into Albany town on a regular basis to busk and to encourage other buskers with vouchers to a local music store.
On the day that this was taken, Mic had been out on the main street with Chelsea the dog busking to raise money for the Philippines Typhoon Appeal.
Chelsea likes to howl along to Mic’s harmonica when She is in the comfort of her favorite armchair at home, but out on the street its a different story.
The theory is that Mic can raise a whole heap more money if Chelsea would sing in public like his old chum ‘Max - The Singing Dog’ who Mic recons could get people to cross the street to give him money.
In this picture, Mic tries once again to get a now distressed Chelsea to sing. After a while he gives up and jokes ‘Well Chelsea, if you can’t sing on the street, how will we raise money for your cancer operation?’

My Dad Jim is pretty proud of his veggie garden efforts. The garden has grown to twice the size and produced carrots, huge cabbages and potatoes. Mum and I have happily distributed them to great full friends and laughed at big carrots and disfigured carrots, a few of which we remarked ‘had grown willys’ (what was that saying about small things and small minds?)
I’m very much looking forward to the next harvest of summer veggies! Yay!
